John Addaquay
|
John Addaquay,
Director, The PURE Company, Accra. Currently, the PURE Company
is all set to produce natural plant products for export, especially
shea butter. Between 1993 and 2002, Mr. Addaquay worked as an
export development consultant and a Director of International
Business for TechnoServe. He has established an award scheme
for needy pupils in a primary/junior secondary school in Kumasi.
The scheme is now being developed into an NGO to cover the rural
area of the Ashanti Region. Mr. Addaquay has a B.A. in Economics
and Business Management from Eckerd College, Florida, and post-graduate
certificates in Project Management from the Economic Development
Institute, Washington, DC and Bradford University, UK. He is
a founding member of the Ghana Jazz Society. As an avid musician,
Mr. Addaquay plays the blues guitar and jazz pianos.

Frank Adu Jnr.

Frank Adu Jr., Managing
Director, CAL Merchant Bank Ltd., Accra. Since March 1990,
Frank Adu has worked with CAL Merchant Bank, starting in its
Treasury Department. Within 10 years, he rose to its most executive
position. The bank is the first private indigenously founded
merchant bank. Frank serves as a member on the Ghana Stock Exchange
Council, the National Bond Market Committee, the Board of the
Ghana Leasing Company Ltd, and he is a Trustee of the Okyeman
Environment Foundation. He holds a B.A. (Hons) in Geography
and an MBA in Finance from the University of Ghana, Legon. He
is an avid polo player and captain of the Ghana Polo Team.

Karen Akiwumi-Tanoh

Karen Akiwumi-Tanoh, Group
Head of Strategy, ECOBANK Transitional Inc., Lomé, Togo.
ECOBANK is a regional banking group owned and managed by Private
West African individuals and institutions. Mrs. Akiwumi-Tanoh
has been working with ECOBANK since 1990, initially as the Financial
Controller. She became the Chief Investment Officer in 1999.
Before that she worked as a Consultant/Audit Manager of Jarvis
Irving in New York, USA from 1988 to 1989 and for Coopers and
Lybrand in Manchester, UK from 1984-1988. From 1981 to 1984,
Mrs. Akiwumi-Tanoh was a teaching assistant at the School of
Administration, University of Ghana, Legon. Mrs. Akiwumi-Tanoh
holds a BSc. in Business Administration and an MBA in Business
Administration from the University of Ghana, Legon. She is a
Chartered Accountant by profession and a member of the Institute
of Chartered Accountants, England and Wales (ICAEW). Mrs. Akiwumi-Tanoh
was a member of the VALCO renegotiating team between 1983 and
1984. She enjoys tennis and swimming. Her other interests are
languages, history, and education. She is married with two children.

Gloria Akuffo, Former Deputy Attorney-General
and Deputy Minister for Justice (2001-2005), Republic of Ghana.
The first woman to hold these positions, Ms Gloria Akuffo
possesses 17 years of experience as a legal officer of the
Agric Development Bank, and as a private practitioner from
Ameyi Chambers in the areas of land, commercial and family
law. She also has had much political experience in the recent
past as a member on various committees of the New Patriotic
Party: namely on its political, legal and constitutional review
committees, as well as its vetting committees for the selection
of the party's presidential aspirants. She served on the Legal
Service Board, the Legal and Law Reform Committees of the
Ghana Bar Association, the Ghana Airways Company, the Ghana
Police Council, and the Divestiture Implementation Committee.
Ms. Akuffo is an avid sports woman and a Rotarian. She graduated
in 1979 from the University of Ghana with a B.A. (Hons) (Law
and Political Science) and became a barrister and solicitor
of the Supreme Court of Judicature of Ghana and enrolled at
the Ghana Bar Association in 1982. She is a founding partner
in a private legal firm, Owusu-Yeboa, Akuffo & Associates,
in Accra. She has been nominated to serve as Deputy Minister,
Greater Accra Region of Ghana, and was the Chairperson of
the AIDS Committee of the Ministry of Justice.

Josephine Amoah
|
Josephine Amoah, Commissioner, National
Insurance Commission, Accra. Ms. Amoah holds a BSC degree
in Administration from the University of Ghana and is an Associate
of the Chartered Insurance Institute. She is a Chartered Insurer
and a Fellow of the Insurance Institute of Ghana. She is a
member of the Presidential Committee for the Promotion and
Revitalization of Industry on a Sustainable Basis. Currently,
she serves on the Governing Council of West African Insurance
Institute of The Gambia, and Care International's Advisory
Committee on Micro-Finance. She is a member of the National
Health Insurance Council and also a member of the Presidential
Commission on Pensions. Finally, she is a member of the Board
of the Millennium Excellence Awards. She has made a significant
contribution towards the development of insurance practice
in Ghana through her active participation in a number of Insurance
Technical Committees, some of which she has chaired. Until
her appointment as Commissioner of Insurance, she worked with
Vanguard Assurance Company Limited, one of the top Insurance
Companies in Ghana for 22 years and rose to the position of
Joint Chief Executive Officer. Ms. Amoah is the mother of
two children.

Essie Anno Sackey

Essie Anno Sackey, Country
Manager, British Airways Plc, Accra. Since 1990, Ms. Anno
Sackey has worked with British Airways in Ghana, first as a
Sales Specialist, then as Sales and Distribution Manager, and
now she occupies the top executive position of Country Manager
for Ghana and Francophone West Africa. Essie is also the Chairperson
for the Board of Airline Representatives Ghana, which ensures
that airlines in Ghana have support and government recognition
and its concomitant legal and regulatory bodies. Ms. Anno Sackey
holds a B.A. in Economics and Statistics from the University
of Ghana, Legon, and an MBA from Brigham Young University. |

Samuel Appenteng

Samuel Appenteng, Deputy
Managing Director, Joissam (Ghana) Ltd. and Joissam Construction
Ltd. Mr. Appenteng resigned as General Manager/Executive
Director of Intravenous Infusions Ltd. on the 18th of February
2005. Mr. Appenteng holds a BSc. from the University of Science
and Technology in Chemical Engineering. He then proceeded to
Vifor S. A. of Geneva where he was trained in the industrial
applications of pharmaceutical manufacturing. Mr. Appenteng
returned to Ghana in 1986 and joined Intravenous Infusions Ltd.,
where he started as the head of the technical department and
rose through to become the General Manager and then an Executive
Director of the company. His many achievements include his consistent
approach at developing basic infrastructural improvements and
championing change as well as expansion of the company's production
facilities. His managerial skills and strategic vision have
contributed immensely to the growth of Intravenous Infusions
Ltd. He is currently pursuing a Masters degree in Business Administration
(Finance) at the University of Leicester. Samuel is also a Director
of the GRATIS project/ITTU. Mr. Appenteng swims, plays tennis,
and loves to read. He is also a devout Christian. |

Patrick Gyimah Awuah Jnr

Patrick Awuah, President, Ashesi University,
Accra. Patrick Awuah is the founder and president of Ashesi
University, a small private institution that has quickly gained
an excellent reputation for innovation and quality education
in Ghana. Ashesi University, which began instruction in March
2002, is modeled after Swarthmore College and has principal
strengths in business, economics and computer science. Prior
to founding Ashesi University, Mr. Awuah served for eight years
as a Program Manager in the Business Systems Division of Microsoft
Corporation, where, among other things, he spearheaded the development
of dial-up internetworking technologies and gained a reputation
for bringing difficult projects to completion. He holds bachelor
degrees in Engineering and Economics from Swarthmore College,
and an MBA from UC Berkeley's Haas School of Business. In 2004,
Swarthmore awarded Patrick an honorary doctorate in recognition
of his leadership in African higher education. He a member of
the Council on Foreign Relations, the Pacific Council on International
Policy, and the Tau Beta Pi national honor society for excellence
in engineering. He is married with two children.

Ernestina Swatson Eshun

Ernestina Swatson Eshun, Marketing Manager,
GABRHO Ltd., Accra. Ms. Swatson Eshun is a civil engineer
who has lived in Angola, Algeria, and the Congo. Her company,
Gabrho, produces and exports pineapples, and she has worked
extensively to promote the export potential of Ghanaian fruit
produce and products as an Executive Council member of the Horticulturists'
Association of Ghana between 1996 and 2000, as Treasurer from
1999-2000 and is currently Gabrho's Vice President. She obtained
a BSc. (Hons) in Civil Engineering from the University of Science
and Technology in Kumasi in 1985, a MSc. in Transportation Engineering
from the University of London in 1987 and a diploma from Imperial
College in 1987. She serves as a member of the PTA board and
the Strategic Planning Action Team for Community Service, Lincoln
Community School, Accra.

Keli Gadzekpo
|
Keli Gadzekpo, Executive Vice Chairman,
Databank Financial Services Limited, Accra. Mr. Gadzekpo
is responsible for the operation of Databank's three primary
lines of business: corporate finance, advisory services, brokerage
and asset management. Since co-founding Databank, Mr. Gadzekpo
has helped develop the capital markets in Ghana. Through his
oversight Databank Brokerage Limited has become the leading
brokerage firm in Ghana. Prior to his return to Ghana, he was
a senior accountant at Stuart Petroleum Company in Washington,
D.C. Before joining Stuart Petroleum, Mr. Gadzekpo worked at
KPMG Peat Marwick in its Washington D.C. office. Mr. Gadzekpo
obtained his BSc. Accounting from Brigham Young University in
1988 and is a certified public accountant (CPA), and a member
of AICPA. Mr. Gadzekpo is the Chairman of the Databank Foundation
and is a member of the National Bond Market Committee. He is
a Director on the boards of Enterprise Insurance Company Ltd.,
Joy FM, and The Gambia Home Finance Company Ltd. He is married
with two children.

Ashok Mohinani
|
Ashok Mohinani, Executive
Director and Chairman, Poly Group of Companies, Accra. Mr.
Mohinani oversees all the business units of the Poly Group of
Companies in Ghana and Nigeria. The Group is involved in the
plastics and packaging industry as well as Electronics and Retailing
and has offices in the UK, India, Hong Kong, China, Nigeria
and Kenya. Educated at the St. Lawrence College in Ramsgate,
Kent, he took up further studies in accounting at the London
School of Accountancy in 1982 and completed his ACCA in 1984.
He has recently undertaken the "Orchestrating Winning Performance
Program" at IMD, Lausanne, Switzerland. Mr. Mohinani then returned
to Ghana and was Sales Manager for Poly Products/Poly Sacks
Ltd. till 1987. He became the Deputy Managing Director for the
Poly Group of Companies until 1991. He moved to Nigeria from
1991 to 1998 as the Managing Director of SOMOTEX Nigeria. He
returned to Ghana in 1998 and became the Deputy Chairman of
the Group. His social responsibilities also include serving
as a member of the board of Trustees, Postgraduate Endowment
Fund - College of Health Sciences. Mr. Mohinani is married with
three children, and enjoys reading, playing tennis, and swimming.

Kenneth Quartey
|
Kenneth Quartey, Managing Director, Sydals Ltd., Ashiaman.
Mr. Quartey graduated from the University of Nebraska with
a B.Sc. in Animal Science in 1983. At a time when most young
Ghanaians were looking to leave Ghana, Kenneth returned from
the United States to run Sydals, a poultry farm that also
breeds horses and livestock, as a passion. Today, Sydals is
the 3rd largest poultry farm in the country, with over 100,000
birds, and is one of the most modern and mechanized. Mr. Quartey
also advocates easing government restraints and constraints
on the agricultural industry, and bringing his peers together
for thoughtful and deliberate discussions on issues at the
heart of development in the country. Mr. Quartey is an avid
polo player and has captained the Ghanaian polo team on several
occasions. Kenneth cannot resist a good argument.

Kwaku Sakyi-Addo
|
Kwaku Sakyi-Addo, Freelance Journalist. Mr. Sakyi-Addo
has been a correspondent for the BBC for ten years and Reuters
for five years. He is the presenter of the nationally-syndicated
current affairs program the "Front Page," at ten years old,
the longest-running radio talk show. He has also produced
and presented "Kwaku One-on-One," a head-to-head TV personality
interview program on national television. Kwaku has written
for Newsweek, The Washington Post, and the Economist. He has
done exclusive interviews with the UN Secretary-General Kofi
Annan, and his predecessor, Boutros Ghali, Presidents Kufuor,
Rawlings, and Jimmy Carter, Israeli PM Yitzhak Shamir, ex-NATO
chief Lord Carrington, Bono, Larry King, and scores of other
Ghanaian and world figures in politics, business and the arts.
Mr. Sakyi-Addo went to Achimota and Accra High Schools. He
is a graduate of the University of Ghana's School of Communication
Studies; the Thomson Foundation at the University of Wales,
Cardiff; the International Institute of Journalism in Berlin;
and the Ghana Institute of Journalism in Accra. He is a Chevening
Scholar and a Permanent Fellow of the World Press Institute
at McAlester College, St. Paul, Minnesota. Mr. Sakyi-Addo
has won several awards, including Journalist of the Year twice.
He is married to Georgette Barnes and they have two children.
In his spare time he lifts weights and jogs.

Frank Tackie

Frank Tackie, CEO, The Consortium, Accra. Mr. Tackie
has had over 25 years of professional experience as an urban
development expert and urban designer. After an initial ten
year practice in Ghana and Nigeria, he served with the United
Nations Center for Human Settlements in Nairobi, in the technology
and infrastructure division, where he undertook several projects
in over 25 countries in Africa, Asia and the Caribbean. Since
establishing his own consulting firm, The Consortium/Comptran
Engineering and Planning Associates, he has undertaken several
key multi-disciplinary projects, with notable examples being:
the first multi-story car-park cum shopping plaza for the
City Car Parks Co., a redevelopment and investment Plan for
Accra Central for the UNDP, preparation of a simple infrastructure
plan for 12 secondary cities in Ghana for the World Bank,
the Ultra-Modern Agbogbloshie market for SSNIT, the Airport
City project for Ghana Civil Aviation, Urban 5, and the project
for the World Bank. Mr. Tackie holds a BSc. in Urban Planning
from the University of Science and Technology, an M.Phil.
in Architecture from the University of Newcastle Upon Tyne,
England, and a certificate in Project Management from the
MDPI. He is an avid squash player.

Kwasi Twum

Kwasi Twum, CEO, Multimedia Broadcasting
Company Ltd., Accra. Mr. Twum is the founder of Ghana's
premier independent radio group. Over the past six years, he
has led Multimedia's fast paced growth, building its radio stations
and websites into nationally and internationally recognized
brands and acquiring two radio stations to establish a national
footprint. Mr. Twum keenly supports corporate responsibility
in social matters, and thus has established the Joy Needy Child
Project and The Multimedia Scholarship Scheme for the Universities
of Ghana and Science and Technology. He supports the University
of Ghana's Jubilee Hall Fund, and the UNICEF National Partnership
Trust. Mr. Twum holds a B.A. in Economics from the University
