This month we highlight Beyond The River, a movie brought to the big screen by Quizzical Pictures and Heartlines — an NGO established by one of our Fellows, Garth Japhet (Class X, XSeed). Heartlines uses a values-based lens through film and print stories, to tackle society’s biggest issues.
The upcoming movie is inspired by a true story of Piers Cruickshanks and Siseko Ntondini, who are today some of South Africa’s top paddlers. The film tells a story of two men from vastly different walks of life. The two come together in a common purpose to win gold at the most arduous canoe marathon.
But a few challenges stand on their way. One has a marriage on the verge of collapse, and the other is running away from the law. Furthermore, they have never paddled together as a team.
This riveting film will take you on a nail-biting adventure through the hills and valleys of their lives.
