Khumo Shuenyane has over 24 years of experience in finance, mergers & acquisitions, private equity and corporate strategy. He currently allocates his time between providing advisory services in the telecoms sector, serving as an independent non-executive advisor on the boards of a number of JSE and LSE listed companies, and pursing various private equity opportunities. Khumo provides advisory services in partnership with Delta Partners Corporate Finance, an advisory firm headquarted in Dubai and focused on the telecoms, technology and digital sectors across emerging markets. In relation to independent non-executive board roles, Khumo currently serves on the boards of Investec Limited, Investec plc, Investec Bank Limited, Investec Property Fund Limited and various other subsidiaries and committees within the Investec group of companies.
Between 2007 and 2013 Khumo served as Group Chief Mergers & Acquisitions Officer for MTN Group Limited. Khumo was a member of the Group Executive Committee and was responsible for corporate strategy and M&A. Khumo was previously head of Principal Investments at Investec Bank Limited and a member of the Executive Committee of Investec’s South African operations. Prior to taking responsibility for the Principal Investments division in 2005, Khumo was a member of Investec’s Corporate Finance division for 7 years. Before joining Investec in 1998 Khumo worked for Arthur Andersen for six years from 1992. He completed his articles with the firm in Birmingham, England, qualifying as a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales in 1995. He subsequently transferred to the firm’s Johannesburg office where he worked for a further three years before joining Investec.
Khumo undertook his tertiary studies in the UK, having won a British Council scholarship after matriculating from St David’s Marist College in 1987. After a one-year A-level program he completed a degree in Economics and International Studies at the University of Birmingham in 1992. In 2004 Khumo completed an International Executive Program at Insead in France and Singapore.
