As we approach the holiday season, it is fitting to take a moment to thank everyone who has been part of the Africa Leadership Initiative. My deepest gratitude goes out to all the Fellows for their continual participation and support. I also extend my thanks to the Aspen Global Leadership Network, as well as our directors, our African and global partners, and our board members, for their invested time and contributions made in supporting the Africa Leadership Initiative during 2016. Finally, a huge thanks to Kofi, Sedibeng and Chenai who have been exceptional in moving ALI to a new level.
2016 has been a great year for ALI. We started the year with three strategic objectives; namely to:
- “Fix the funding” to ensure financial sustainability;
- “Connect and mobilise the Fellows” and re-energise the organization; and
- “Tell our stories” through improved communication and engagement with all stakeholders and Fellows.
The achievements are worth noting. We have seen the launch of our revamped website, the reintroduction of each class to the Fellowship so we all know who the ALI Fellows are, and a new payoff-line that has impressed our international partners, and has created a positive energy amongst our Fellows. The Dialogue Series has also proven to be a success, as it reengaged Fellows, sparked thought-provoking conversations, and got us all thinking seriously about our country. We have also been reminded of the great works and ventures that our Fellows have championed, as we showcased some of the great projects they have initiated.
I end this year with renewed confidence that the coming year will only get better. I hereby wish everyone a warm festive season, and a joy-filled New Year. And I trust, you will finish 2016 with a blast!
Let integrity lead.
We would love to hear how your 2016 experience with the Africa Leadership Initiative has been. And what you think of the new changes that have been made. Should you spot any areas for improvement; feel free to share your ideas or comments.
